It’s now a felony in Alabama to give trans kids under 20 hrt or affirmative surgery

Teachers and medical professionals will also be required to out trans kids to their parents

Trans kids on hrt and their parents should get out of Alabama as soon as they can, and if you’re a trans kid in that state and you’re not out to your parents, don’t let any teachers or doctors find out

As of March 5th, the bill is not law yet. It has been passed by the Alabama Senate, but it has not been approved by the governor. The article isn’t super clear on how close the House bill is to the Senate bill, either, so the bill may also be delayed while they reach a compromise.

It probably will become law–I don’t particularly trust Kay Ivey, and it could pass with a revote even if she does veto it–but crucially, it isn’t law yet.

Anyone under 20 who is on puberty blockers or HRT and can’t leave Alabama should look into switching their care to an out-of-state facility as soon as possible. EDIT: Trans in the South (link) has a directory of different options for trans-affirming healthcare in southern states. From my understanding, the bill does not make it illegal to possess puberty blockers or HRT that was prescribed out-of-state.

    Hey everyone,

Recently I’ve had to undergo surgery for a condition I have called Osteochondritis dessicans. This condition caused part of my bone to stop receiving blood flow and break off. Because of this procedure I’ve been placed in crutches and cannot work to help pay this off. Currently I need help paying off my bills and expenses such as my MRI that had to be taken and visits to the doctor. Any help at all would be immensely appreciated. Please share this too ❤️🦭

I hate to talk about something so extremely severe but I just need to say it. I know the whole “why is nobody talking about this” thing is annoying but I really am starting to feel like I’m going insane over the fact that Tennessee recently passed a law (PASSED IT, not suggested it, not considering it, it’s FINALIZED) stating that businesses have to put up a WARNING SIGN if they are supportive of transgender people. A public warning sign stating that they allow trans people to use their facilities. And I’ve seen almost basically mainstream acknowledgment of it at all, anywhere. Just other trans people expressing their fear and anger. Can we maybe acknowledge that for like, how deeply horrifying that actually is.

For people looking for more information, the Tennessee legislature passed two bills: The first is like the OP said and requires businesses to put signs up if they allow trans people to use their restrooms.

But the second allows students and teachers to sue schools that let trans kids use the restroom.

Hi everyone. I’m typically a very private person but I’m in need of some help. My father passed away and wasn’t found until days after his death. The police failed to do a wellness check until 2 days after requested which is when they found him. I want to have him cremated and have his remains split between myself and his two siblings. The money is to have him cremated, the most basic package for a zoom memorial, and the cost to travel in order to get his affairs in order. I’m a black disabled person myself dealing with multiple mental illnesses and so was my father. My mother is currently going through chemotherapy and my dog is sick with an unknown illness and we’re having to take her to the emergency clinic tonight. Anything will help. Thank you

we say this after every ceasefire but even if active bombing has stopped, palestinians still face israeli violence on a daily basis. in gaza alone, and as a result of the recent violence, the water supply is now facing 40% shortage, roads leading to hospitals are destroyed, at least 70,000 people have been displaced, 12 families have been completely wiped out, and close to 2000 injured, many of whom will not be able to go abroad to receive crucial treatments as the 14-year siege on gaza continues.

and as always, israel is going to enjoy total impunity on all of these crimes which allows it to continue with the siege on gaza, home demolitions, land/resource theft, detention of children, terrorizing worshippers and so on.

the momentum that was built, especially on social media, has got to continue. it has become quite clear that the movement has done so much specifically in terms of shedding light on the magnitude of israel’s crimes and the absurdity of the justifications that we have been battling for ages.

yes, i cried literal tears seeing people in gaza celebrate the ceasefire but this is a reminder to all that a ceasefire is the bare minimum as different forms of violence enacted by israel never ceased. the fight for human rights has got to continue. keep talking about sheikh jarrah, the occupation, the apartheid, the siege; keep palestine present so that israel is held accountable for its crimes.

A UK BLM activist was shot last night in London at 3am (23rd May 2021) after the Palestine protest.

    Her name is Sasha Johnson.

She’s not dead yet, but it’s unlikely she will survive as she was shot in the head.

She has been heavily involved in organising protests over the last year as well as making speeches, and has been receiving death threats for it which the Met hasn’t done anything about.

I’m sharing this bc I know I won’t see much of it, but also to let people know that this shit does happen in the UK and it’s not acceptable.

I’m hoping that there’s a boost in attention paid to this story from over here, with Tamika posting about it earlier. She’s got a lot of eyes on her in America.

    Please Help Me, I’m terrified

Hey guys, if you don’t know me my name’s Jack, I’m a 22yr old transman, I live with my disabled wife and her family, our cats and chihuahua. I really don’t want to have to do this but I’ve exhausted all options. I don’t have any family that can help, so I’m turning to my family on here to see if any might care enough to try and help me.

The picture above is from my most recent xray. I am in severe pain from all of the problems I have. I have a tooth infection, and impacted wisdom teeth that the dentist said NEEDS to come out and that I’ve put it off for too long and its causing problems. On top of that I have several broken and cracked / severely decayed teeth that they said are at risk for becoming infected after the upcoming surgery that I have. I’ve already been on antibiotics for two weeks.

If I get another infection, my insurance is not going to cover it, and the ER wouldnt be able to help. Where I live, there is only a 1000 dollar EMERGENCY only fund for dental work, and I’m using it up with the extraction entirely. My appointment is coming up soon and I have to lose the tooth at 22 years old because it’s running the risk of infecting my bloodstream and insurance won’t cover the root canal. I can’t afford it because my wife is disabled and I’m trying to find work right now, but that’s not really going to happen when I’m in so much pain that I can hardly ever eat at all, and I have to heal from this upcoming tooth extraction.

They said all in all I have over 1000 dollars worth of work that needs to be done, and thats just what’s emergent and need to be done as soon as possible. They don’t offer payment plans at any of the dentists in my area, and I have already been denied for carecredit, and I cant find any loans. My wife is constantly terrified thinking another infection will kill me, because we’ve already called and they refuse to do anything to help me even in a dire situation other than that annual amount. I hate that I can’t comfort her. We’ve been living in constant stress and I’m in pain all day long. I do brush my teeth religiously, but it wont fix these problems. My dad also has horrible dental problems, and they seem to think it’s genetic. I obviously can’t and don’t expect the full amount from you guys, I just really want to not be in pain all the time and stop worrying about becoming seriously ill from these infections. I’ve been having horrible migraines and nausea just from this one tooth.

    My (moms) cashapp is $tcmazzi

Her PAYPAL is paypal.me/tcmazzi or the email is tangelinamazz@icloud.com and anything will go to helping with the most severe problems I’m having. It will literally be a life saver and I hope to return the favor when I’m able which will hopefully be soon. If you cant help, please boost, it would mean the world to me.

Eighth Generation is what modern Native American design looks like without cultural appropriation

Louie Gong describes his company, Eighth Generation, as “a Native-owned, community-engaged small business that began when I started putting cultural art on shoes.” It’s true, in 2008, Gong began decorating sneakers and skateboarding apparel with indigenous Nooksack patterns — a move that, as a Nooksack himself, set him apart from the non-Native designers who’d been doing so for years. As demand grew, so did Gong’s ambition.

    Here you go, kids!

How to procure Native-American-and-First-Nation-themed items without entitlement or cultural appropriation in one easy step.

BUY THE THINGS DIRECTLY FROM THE PEOPLE THEMSELVES.

Because if they’re selling these representations of their culture and being fairly compensated, you’re not appropriating, you’re appreciating. And helping good folks make a living while you’re at it.

    Everybody wins.
